Who we are
Our directories are written and checked by the WiseLocal Editorial Team. Every piece of content is checked by a person before it is published.
Information, not advice
We publish facts about firms and general guidance that points to official sources. Nothing in our directories is legal or professional advice. Including a firm is not a recommendation.
Primary sources first
Regulatory details come from the regulator’s own register: for solicitors, the Solicitors Regulation Authority in England and Wales, the Law Society of Scotland, or the Law Society of Northern Ireland. Our guides rely on primary sources such as GOV.UK and the bodies we describe, and link to them so you can check for yourself.
How we check listings
- Regulatory details are refreshed from the register every month.
- Details from a firm’s own website are checked by a person before they are published, and re-checked at least once a year, or sooner if someone reports a change.
- Every fact shows where it came from and when we checked it.
- If the regulator shows that a firm is no longer authorised, its listing is removed at the next monthly refresh.
How we describe firms
We write firm descriptions in our own words, from the firm’s own website. We never copy a firm’s marketing text, and we never describe a firm as “the best” or “recommended”.
Paid placement
Paying never changes the facts we show about a firm or its place in our main list. Any paid placement is shown separately and labelled “Featured”.
Corrections
If something is wrong, email hello@wiselocal.co.uk. We check every report against the regulator’s register or the firm’s own website, and correct factual errors promptly.
